Prohibition of Pregnant Women Must Be Obeyed

There is a ban on pregnant women that should not be done, because it can interfere with fetal growth. Many restrictions make pregnant women anxious and confused. Like Lita, a mother who is so confused knows many restrictions on pregnant women.
“If you are pregnant, don’t take a hot shower often, Mom,” a friend suggested to Mrs. Lita who was pregnant.
“Yes, also do not have sex with your husband,” said suggestions from other friends.
“Duh , how come , there are a lot of restrictions! This can’t be, it can’t be, “said Lita.
Almost certainly Ms. Lita’s experience has ever happened to you, right? Is it true that during pregnancy there are so many things that are forbidden?
“Even though the pregnant person is actually a healthy person,” Dr. Dwiana Ocviyanti, Sp.OG from Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital, Jakarta.
Be careful when you are pregnant. In fact, it needs to be done before pregnancy begins. Currently, pre-pregnancy counseling has been carried out by many people. “The goal is to prepare a healthy pregnancy. So that you can avoid things that are not desirable. Especially those relating to habits, consumption of food ingredients, and so on, “explained Ovy, Dwiana’s nickname.
Well, so that pregnant women are not always anxious throughout pregnancy, we should recognize what is and cannot be done during pregnancy. Anything?

Prohibition of Pregnant Women –  Activities that Should Be Avoided

1. Painting

For those who like to paint, this activity can still be done while pregnant. But, not too long or excessive, for example throughout the day. Just 1-2 hours every day. What is feared during painting the smell of paint can be inhaled for a long time. Because most types of paint contain chemicals. “Therefore, it is better to paint in an open space to reduce exposure too long with paint,” Ovy suggested.

2. Sex

Orgasm can cause miscarriage at a young gestational age and cause labor in advanced gestational age. But, this is not proven in a normal pregnancy. “So, this activity is okay. As long as there is no indication of abnormalities in pregnancy, such as the location of the placenta below or bleeding, “said Ovy.

3. Sports

If you are routine and love to exercise, you can continue during pregnancy. It’s just that the exercise carried out is not dangerous and risky, such as car racing, horse riding, jumping, white water rafting, and so on. But, do light exercise for 5-30 minutes, such as morning walks, light exercise, or swimming.
Road is the safest exercise during pregnancy. Swimming also includes exercise that is of little risk and can be done throughout pregnancy. Swimming can make your back feel comfortable and your body becomes light, because it avoids gravity.

4. Take a plane

Pregnant women may board the plane before 7 months of gestation. Actually the baby in the womb does not have a problem with the height and the difference in air pressure. In order to travel with a plane more comfortably you should sit on the edge of the “alley” so that it is easy if you want to go to the restroom. Also use a safety strap to sit comfortably, and use a leg support so as not to cause swelling and also a small pillow behind your back.
Traveling by plane is indeed a high risk. If the air condition is bad, then the mother becomes stressed. Mothers can lack oxygen and experience shortness of breath. While the baby in the womb needs oxygen. If this happens in the last trimester, premature labor can occur or the baby dies in the womb.

5. Smoking

“Babies born to mothers who smoke almost always have low birth weight,” said Ovy. Smoker’s mother causes the baby to get blood through the placenta less, so that the acid in the blood is small. As a result the baby’s weight is lower than that of babies who don’t smoke. So, during pregnancy even long before you get pregnant, this useless activity should be stopped!

6. X-rays

Radiation cannot be done, regardless of the indication. All forms of radiation have the potential to jeopardize fetal development. At this time the fetus is in development. All types of radiation can disrupt cell development. So that cell mutations occur that can develop in the direction of cancer, defects and so on. If x-rays are needed, such as to find a broken bone or dental x-ray, you should tell your doctor that you are pregnant.

7. Sauna

During pregnancy this activity is not at all pleasant. Especially done in closed spaces and hot air. While many pregnant women experience evaporation from their bodies with frequent sweating.

8. Bathing at night

What should be considered by pregnant women is hygiene problems. If you don’t take a shower, mold can arise because many pregnant women sweat. So, it’s okay to take a bath at night, as long as you don’t shiver with cold. If you don’t want to take a bath, at least wash with a washcloth, clean the pubic area, clean the folds of the skin.

9. Work at the computer

Radiation from a computer can be said to be very small. So, pregnant women may work in front of the computer as long as it is not too long. Also pay attention to the posture, so that no complaints of back pain arise. Try as often as possible to move. You should do other activities every 1-2 hours, such as taking a walk or moving your limbs.

10. Driving

If the pregnancy is not problematic, you are allowed to drive. But, pay attention to distance and driving time. Change position frequently to relax the leg muscles. Don’t delay the urge to urinate because you are too busy driving.
Entering the third trimester of pregnancy, you need a driver. An enlarged stomach will make it difficult for you to drive properly. In addition, it also avoids unwanted possibilities, such as contractions when driving.

11. Diet

A diet is not good for the condition of the mother and baby, because it can cause a deficiency of vitamins, minerals and other food ingredients. Diet can only be done with the doctor’s approval.
Some pregnant women actually recommended a diet of certain foods. The goal, of course, is not to lose weight, but so that the mother’s weight does not increase excessively.
Normal weight gain while pregnant is no more than two kilograms a month. If you need to reduce certain types of foods that can add excess weight, such as cakes, tarts, biscuits, fatty and sweet foods.

12. Paint

Avoid contact with paint, even if you only smell the smell of thinner. Because substances contained in paint can enter the body. No wonder if there are people who feel dizzy after smelling it, especially for pregnant women. Indeed, it is not known for sure whether the paint material can be harmful to the development of the fetus or not. But prevention is always better, right?

13. Cleaning and polishing agents

Cleaners contain chemicals that can be absorbed through the skin and enter the bloodstream where the fetus is developing. So, avoid direct contact with the skin. We recommend that you wear gloves if you require pregnant women to use cleaning agents or gloss.

12. Hair dye

Indeed, there is no evidence that shows the chemicals in hair dyes are harmful to the fetus. But, on the other hand, hair coloring has not proven to be safe at all. So, it’s best to temporarily postpone the desire to dye your hair.

13. Cosmetics

Actually cosmetics contain chemicals, although there are very few in number. The content of mercury in cosmetics is known to be harmful to the fetus. Therefore, consult a cosmetic expert, what products are safe for pregnant women.

14. Stockings

Do not limit blood circulation in the legs during pregnancy, because it can cause swelling. So, don’t use stockings that wrap your legs tightly.
It’s best to use soft stockings if you feel you need to wear them to maintain the beauty and warmth in an air-conditioned room. Varicose veins can still use special varicose veins.

15. Shoes

The choice of shoes during pregnancy is more about comfort and safety. The body changes so it is important to avoid shoes that will overload the lower back and leg muscles. Just as high heels can risk slipping, falling and sprained feet.
Similarly, with flat heeled shoes that are preferred, it also has to support the legs well. Also avoid that can cause you to fall or slip. When buying shoes, the size is slightly larger than usual, in anticipation of swollen feet that are common during pregnancy.

16. Alcohol

You should not consume alcohol at all during pregnancy. If a woman likes to drink alcoholic drinks, it must be stopped before the pregnancy occurs. There is no safe level of alcohol use during pregnancy.
The alcoholic drink will enter the baby’s blood through his mother’s blood. While the fetus’s heart is not functioning optimally, the alcohol will remain circulating in the blood.
In women who drink excessive amounts of alcohol, most will be at risk for babies. Alcohol can inhibit physical growth, brain and so on so that babies are born with physical disabilities, heart damage and mental retardation.
Although there are mothers who say, “I drink alcohol, my child is okay.” So, it is not causative but risky.

17. Half cooked meat

Meat should be processed until cooked, because food derived from animals can contain bacteria, parasites, protozoa and even various types of worms. Even half-cooked eggs can be found salmonella which can cause typhus.
Food containing these germs can enter the mother’s blood and cause infections, for example, Toxoplasma. All infections in pregnant women cause interference with the baby. To find out, a blood test is performed. If you are infected, the doctor will do the best for you.

18. Birth control pills

When you don’t realize you are pregnant, you might still take birth control pills. No need to worry too much, because birth control pills do not directly cause effects on the fetus, such as a disabled baby.
Moreover, synthetic hormones in birth control pills are almost the same as natural hormones produced by the body. But, stop immediately after you know yourself pregnant.

19. Caffeine

Drinking caffeinated drinks is okay, as long as drinking coffee is not excessive. But, remember, caffeine is an influential stimulant and can increase the production of stress hormones. This increase causes reduced blood flow to the uterus and reduced oxygen reaching the fetus. So, consuming large amounts of caffeine is not good for you and your baby.
While drinking tea is recommended not in conjunction with vitamins or foods that contain iron. Tea will inhibit iron absorption.

20. Painkillers

Don’t take drugs at random! But, that does not mean if you are sick you cannot take medicine. Always consult a gynecologist if you are going to take certain drugs. Or, tell your doctor if you are pregnant, so he will prescribe a medication that is safe for pregnant women.
