Women will experience a natural cycle that occurs once a month or what is called the menstrual cycle. During menstruation, women will experience PMS with symptoms such as abdominal pain, low back pain, bad mood, and so on.
PMS appears before and during menstruation which of course will make the body feel uncomfortable and disturbed when doing routine activities. In addition to experiencing PMS while menstruating, women will also experience an increase in appetite. They will always want to snack and eat whatever type of food they see.
Why did it happen? So, increased appetite is due to hormonal changes during menstruation. It is also justified by specialists that appetite and snacking before and during menstruation are not only normal, but also the body’s unique response due to hormonal changes.
Some hormones such as estrogen, progesterone, serotonin, and cortisol will go up and down. Of course this has indeed become part of a woman’s menstrual cycle. Most women will feel very sensitive during menstruation because serotonin levels that regulate anxiety and happiness levels tend to decrease.
While the hormone cortisol is also released more at the same time, so that makes the body and brain become stressed. This hormonal change is quite chaotic, which results in increased appetite and disruptive moods. If your appetite rises and becomes more uncontrolled during menstruation, you may experience sudden weight gain.
To prevent this from happening, you should exercise regularly and fill your time with other useful activities. Exercise can overcome your desire to snack and help to regulate unbalanced hormones in the body. However, that does not mean you have to hold back feeling of snacking hard because it will torture yourself. You can still snack at a reasonable stage.
